Things were settling down in he infirmary lately, there hadn’t been a new flu case in close to a day and Zach had hopes that meant it would taper off before February. But he was also a realist and knew they might not be out of the woods yet, knew that more cases could crop up at any moment. That wasn’t what he wanted to think, but he didn’t want to be caught off guard if it did happen. So far they hadn’t lost anyone to this thing, which was a blessing, but one of the cases currently in the infirmary was serious and had him concerned that the little boy could be the first casualty to this thing.
Raking a hand through his hair as he approached the cafeteria, Zach tried to shove all thoughts of the possibility of losing a patient out of his mind. He needed to focus on healing the kid, not on the fact that they could lose him. Some days he wondered how he ended up here, playing doctor when all he had to his name was an EMT-Paramedics license. Granted, that gave him a hell of a lot more credit to his name than most everyone else around, expect for maybe Talia, who was an honest to god doctor. They all worked with what they had though, and Zach thought they were pretty well off by way of infirmary staff - all things considered.
He was nearing the door of the cafeteria when a body collided with his am. Glancing over Zach couldn’t stop himself from smiling slightly when he caught sight of who it was doing the running into. “Don’t be,” he answered with his smile still in place. “Never going to mind a pretty woman running into my arm.” Especially not when that woman was Bea. He couldn’t explain why it was, but Zach was almost determined to win her over, even if it killed him.
