“Yeah. Probably. It's just hard not to feel for her, you know? Especially since I've been there.” She shrugged a shoulder and sighed a little. “She was there for me, so I feel like I should be there for her, but I guess I can't unless she wants me to be, huh?” she sighed heavily and shook her head. “Yeah, I know. Deep down, I do know that. I just feel responsible for her well being, because I know she'd be there for me and do whatever she could to bring me back.” And it was hard, knowing that she couldn't do the same.
She chuckled. “It's okay,” she said with a little smile. “I was mostly kidding.” She gave him a little smirk when he told her that he'd risk the germs. “That's a pretty big risk you're taking for me,” she teased. Actually, the whole situation could be summed up by this one conversation. He was risking a lot, being with her, especially when word got out. That thought made her smile sober a little, but it was still genuine.
Rae bit her lip and gave a single chuckle. Judging by his reactions, she definitely still had it. “Sorry,” she said. And she meant it, even if it was nice to flirt like this. “Believe me, though, you're not the only one who's sort of...” she chuckled awkwardly, “going through their own bit of hell here.” The last bit of pregnancy, with her hormones going insane, had been hell, definitely, and now, this whole situation they were in added to that. Taking it slow was proving to be far more difficult than she ever imagined. “You can look as much as you want,” she told him honestly. He could touch, too, and she'd let him do that a couple of times—even if it made it impossible to put the breaks on before it got too far—but they were in public now. So it likely wasn't wise.
Her grin was still a little coy, and she shrugged. “It's only unsafe if it's unwelcome,” she stated simply.
“Well, when we get back to my place, it'll come off,” she promised, then paused and chuckled when she realized exactly how that sounded. “Then, you know, you can touch whatever you want,” she told him, her voice taking a slightly flirtatious tone as she looked up at him. Her hand found his side under his shirt, the warmth was nice... and it probably would've been nicer if the whole situation didn't have her feeling like she was warming up on her own. She was sure that it was only a matter of time before they got carried away, but really, if it was something they were both interested in, could it be considered carried away?
The kiss to the temple was hardly what she wanted, and she looked up at him, communicating exactly that with her expression. She swallowed thickly, then looked around herself. When she didn't see anyone in the near vicinity, she grabbed the lapels of his jacket and pulled him down into a kiss. It was hard enough resisting as it stood. Her eyes fluttered closed, and she probably lingered twice as long as she should have, but she couldn't help it.
Once she broke the kiss, she breathed heavily a few times, trying to catch her breath. “That... yeah, that sounds good,” she nodded her head, sticking her hands into her pockets again. “Think you can keep yourself standing with your cast?”
