Vienna made an amused noise at Leah's words. "Nope, two people using the same excuse does not make it true, but I like your reasoning." Stubbornness was a family trait and Vienna had it in spades, so Leah wasn't going to win this mock-argument. It wasn't hard to miss the way her friend sobered, and it didn't take long before she realized why. "Not really. I mean I was young when things went to hell, but I could have already been working, plus the way I see it now, I get to do whatever the hell I want with my photography and I don't have anyone telling me what I can or can't do." She may not be as optimistic as she used to be, but that didn't mean she couldn't see the pluses of her situation now.
Taking the look Leah gave her in stride, Vienna just shrugged. Maybe Leah didn't think she was anything special, or maybe she felt out of place all dress up. But there was no denying that the blond was stunning, plan and simple. "Sure, that's the only reason you would stand out. It's not because you're gorgeous or anything, not at all."
It was moments like these that Vienna wished she were better at encouraging words. She could see both sides and probably why Leah and Evan had fought, they both made valid points. "I'm sure it's something the two of you will work out. Couple's fight and you both have valid reasons for being upset." She couldn't even remember how many times she and Thomas had fought, but in the end she had always known that he loved her. "He should have. But Evan has lost people he cares about right? Maybe his fear of losing you is clouding his ability to see things clearly." Or maybe it wasn't, Vienna was just guessing at this point. A part of her felt weird discussing someone else's personal life, especially when she knew this didn't come easily to Leah, talking about her problems with a friend like this.
"That would be awful," Vienna breathed. "I don't even know what I would do if I was told I shouldn't or couldn't be near Ledger." Since the minute her son was born she had never been too far away from him. But to have gone through what Leah went through, losing Mari and then getting her back, moments like this had to be that much harder to deal with. "I would take her sleeping better as a good sign. Before you know it you'll be with her again."
Shifting her posture into one that clearly said. 'I'm not afraid.', Vienna smirked. "Nobody will make fun, and if they do it will only be because they're jealous," because despite Leah's own opinion, Vienna felt the general population of Sing Sing would have a much different opinion of the blond's outfit. "Also, I am so not afraid of you, so bring it on." In reality she knew damn well if it came down to a physical fight Leah would beat her hands down. "Best news all day? Wow, we need to find you better news." She remarked, her tone teasing.
"That's because your a pain," Vienna quipped, enjoying this kind of easy banter for the moment. "And I'm a pro so bring on the difficult situations." She opened her mouth to argue that Leah's life wasn't boring, but closed it again when she realized most everyone's life was boring in this place. They faced down so much lately that boring was actually kind of a welcome thing. "You haven't been a shitty friend, you were just wrapped up in your own stuff," she pointed out, and really friendship was a two way street so Vienna was just as much to blame for lack of communication lately. "Honestly, not much has happened. My life is about as boring as yours," she quieted for a moment at the question about Noah. How were things going?
Chewing on her lower lip for a moment, she wondered if she should unload her current feelings onto Leah. Would her friend truly want to hear about the struggle she had been having with becoming attached to him? It felt like a heavy weight on her chest, though, so maybe telling someone would make it better. "Things have been good…" she trailed off for a moment. "I think I'm getting more attached to me than I should. This thing was supposed to be casual, but it doesn't feel as casual, at least not entirely." And she hated that, because getting attached to Noah meant the possibility of losing another person she cared about.
