She poked her tongue out at Zach but didn’t say anything because DJ spoke up at that moment and her attention went to the youngest Johnson. Pressing her hands palm down under her chin to display her face, Maddie said, “Are these the faces of people who care whether you hate your nickname or not?”
A big part of Maddie didn’t particularly want to be here for this part. Each member of the family had a different way of coping with depression and foul moods. DJ’s just happened to be the hardest to deal with. Maddie was never really sure how to handle the seriousness of it all. She usually left that part to Zach. Brother bonding and all that. As long as they didn’t make her feel like the third wheel, she was cool with Zach handling things for the most part.
With a wicked grin, Maddie brandished the rope. “This is me, totally hoping you go with the second, funner choice. I haven’t hogtied anyone in ages.”
