[ooc: ugh! italics fail :P]
Rude. She was being rude. April wasn’t always aware of the ins and outs of social interaction, but she knew enough to know now that she had been staring at the guy long enough for it to be considered rude. Wonderful first impression, April. she chided herself, dropping her gaze down to her book again.
Now maybe I should just leave.
After all she had probably made the poor guy uncomfortable, which meant any attempt at starting a conversation was probably lost. Not that she could even figure out a way to start a conversation. She thought that probably didn’t matter anyway because his attention was focused on the television screen again and she had her nose in her book. This wasn’t an adventure anymore; this outing was a train wreck. People like Lucas and Rae understood her quirks, understood her. But strangers, well, she could never quite manage to come across in a way that didn’t somehow make her seem just a little odd, case in point, she had spent entirely too much time staring at this guy.
Maybe I should apologize… The thought struck her, but she wondered if that would only make the situation worse. I mean it was already awkward, wouldn’t saying something like ‘Hey, sorry for starting at you like a creeper’ just draw more attention to said creeper like behavior and the reason they were both uncomfortable now. Although, staring at him had allowed her to notice things about him, like he was cute, but that probably wasn’t the appropriate way to go about realizing things like that.
Her eyes went a little wide as she realized she had just kind of acknowledge she thought this guy was cute. And now he’s labeled me weird, probably. Which was a bit of a dismal thought, but she wasn’t going to spend too much time dwelling on something she couldn’t change. Instead she shifted on her end of the couch, going back to sitting cross-legged with her book balancing on one of her knees. Maybe if she stayed quiet and didn’t attempt to start anymore conversations with him things would go back to normal and this uncomfortable vibe in the room would be lifted, maybe.
