Well, this was awkward. The guy hadn’t said any thing to her, all he had done was look at her twice and the second time at least he had acknowledge her existence. April had given him a small smile in return; all while ignoring the small voice in her mind that repeating. Say something..
She didn’t want to say something.
Starting the conversation was awkward, and small talk was tedious. Maybe this was why she didn’t know that many people around here, she hated small talk. All the ‘hellos, how are yous and nice to meet yous.’ Just felt rehearsed and kind of boring. Also, she wasn’t very good at it – usually halfway through the conversation she would come up with some random remark that would confuse the other person and thus end the conversation.
Yeah, staying quiet was safer. At least she couldn’t alienate him if she didn’t say anything.
I wish Luke were here. Sure, Luke wasn’t exactly awesome with people, but he never struggled to find something to say, not like she did. Shifting on her end of the couch April wondered if it would be intrusive to see what game he was playing. Yeah, because hanging over his shoulder won’t be weird…not at all. She giggled softly at that thought, thinking that at least it would break the ice.
