From the look on his face alone it was clear that this was the last thing that Wren had expected. He was shaking his head even before the marble hit his hand, drawing it towards him in his fist. He looked at Aiden like he couldn't understand a word the man was saying, his face a picture of confusion.
At first he thought that Aiden didn't want to take the thing from him after all because who would want a present from something like him? When he saw that Aiden looked genuinely upset though he realised that Aiden wouldn't think that way and that couldn't be it. He frowned in that way kids do before they're about to cry because he knew he wasn't worth such amazing presents but Aiden certainly was. With that thought in mind he tugged at Aiden's sleeve unhappily. "No, why, you can have the present, you're a good, you're good, you're not a bad boy, you're allowed to have it." he said, half insistent half pleading.
