With a ghost of an amused smile tugging at the corners of his mouth, Miah chuckled slightly. She made a good point, she never did say she was ‘playing at innocent’ - those were his words. But if he were the judging type he would say Maddie was probably anything but innocent. Nobody had a mischievous smile if they were truly innocent or a goody-goody. “No you did not,” he admitted. “And it would remove a form of amusement for you, right?”
Judging people wasn’t really Miah’s thing. He was of the opinion that people could do whatever they wanted, so long as it wasn’t physically harming another person. That opinion likely came from his own desire to do whatever he wanted, whenever he wanted – and not be judged for it.
“You could probably find at least a couple gamblers who are in need of something to bet one,” Miah commented with a shrug. Sure, nobody would bet money anymore – but whatever items they might use for betting could be of some interest. He quirked an eyebrow at her comment about work. “Allergic? Wasn’t aware that could actually be an allergy.” His tone was more conversational than anything else. “How exactly do they go about diagnosing that? Do they make you work and if you break out in hives you’re allergic?”
Holding up his hands in a kind of ‘I don’t know’ gesture, Miah gave Maddie a rueful smile. “Don’t ask me where to find them, I’m new here,” it seemed he was figuring news things out about this place as each day passed. “You could try the armory, maybe.”
Shifting his attention back towards the fight, Miah had to admit the guy wasn’t doing himself any favors. Verbally attacking a scorned woman never went over well, so Maddie’s observation was likely correct. “I’m not even sure she’ll wait until he’s sleeping,” the girlfriend had this kind of crazed look in her eyes, that unpredictable glint that usually meant a person should back away slowly and not turn their back on the other person.
