Something about her innocent smile was off, almost like she knew something he didn’t. Which obviously it was the fact that he clearly needed to brush up on his ability to read people, apparently solitary life had him a little rusty in that respect. “Ah, so you’re just playing at being innocent?” Which really if she was the sort of girl who spent her free time tossing Molotovs at zombies, well, he probably should have figured that one out on his own.
“And somehow I still don’t think he’s learned his lesson, even with flying objects being thrown at his head,” call him a pessimist but the guy didn’t necessarily seem overly apologetic. No, he just seemed scared. “We are, so at least someone’s benefiting from his inability to keep it in his pants or at least avoid being caught.”
Miah’s expression was just a little smug as he replied. “What can I say, I’ve got a gift,” which stemmed from too much time people watching, but Maddie didn’t necessarily need to know that. “A fight is only exciting if someone’s placing bets on it,” he remarked with a shrug. “Which you know I wouldn’t be surprised if Sing Sing’s got a bookie floating around here.”
He couldn’t keep himself from pulling a face at her stink bomb suggestion. “Do you want to spend the next month living outside?” Miah had done the whole living out in nature thing for long enough, he kind of liked the comfort of having a roof over his head. “Maybe try a flash bomb, it will still get attention but it won’t leave a horrible smell behind.”
