“Yep, Satan. Evil to the core,” Jace confirmed with a small head nod, smiling because he’d managed to pull a laugh from her. And surprisingly –or not- it hadn’t been at his sake. “I mean, his home turf, decidedly not awesome.” Not that he honestly believed that Satan existed, Atheist that he was, but it was fun to pin it on something beyond mankind. Though, they could be evil and sadistic too.
At the look she gave him he just shrugged a shoulder in silent answer. She could question his methods, motives or technique all she wanted, it entertained him more than anything. He only ever did over half the stuff he did to gain attention; he rarely tried for being the best. Passable was so much easier. And hey, he probably wouldn’t gain much credit from her anyways. From the critique she’d given him it was pretty clear that she knew what she was talking about.
Probably professionally trained.
He crossed his arms and nodded. “Absolutely.” Bonus, she seemed like she might actually take it. “Want to see if you can back up all the critiquing you were doing.”
Apparently he’d stumbled right into a sore spot, if her language was anything to go by. Lucky him. He’d have to remember that later, if he ever interacted with her again. Personally, he liked Caitie, but then he had a soft spot for mischief-makers.
He huffed a laugh at the questions, and shook his head at the latter. “I’m used to the cold, but nah, it doesn’t make me happy,” he replied. “Just out here ‘cause I got restless inside. There was no one in the Horsemen.” It didn’t explain why he chose the courtyard of all places to chill and listen to music, but she seemed like a smart cookie, she could probably connect the dots. Or she wouldn’t.
