A smiled appeared on Nick’s face when Caitie laughed. It wasn’t much, but at least she had managed to get her friend laughing, even if it was just for a moment. “And everyone thanks you for that fact,” really though people were allowed to like whatever color they wanted. “True. So I wonder what it says about me that it’s my favorite color.”
“Yeah, I think it’s the testosterone or something, it clouds their judgment.” It was hard not to agree with that opinion. Nick had been raised with three brothers, all of whom had had their dumb moments.
Nick screwed up her face. “How does it serve you right? Brothers shouldn’t leave their younger sisters alone to celebrate Christmas,” she spun around in a slow circle as she said this, feeling more and more comfortable on the skates as the minutes passed. “It’s dumb and unfair, especially when it’s the first Christmas in probably years that the possibility was even there to spend it with family.” Maybe she wasn’t doing a great job of cheering Caitie up, but maybe talking about her feelings was what her friend needed.
Now that was promise Nick could definitely keep. “I like the way you think, it’s like seriously perfect,” she replied with a tiny smirk. “Alone I could never do any damage to any of my brothers, but if I’ve got back up they’d be totally doomed. Should we pinky-swear to make it all official?”
