“I like pink better than yellow, anyway,” Caitie said with a bit of a chuckle. Of course, that was pretty common knowledge, the fact that pink was her favorite color. “Blue just makes me think of sad.” Which was probably more appropriate for how she felt, but it didn't matter. “And red's for angry and green's for jealousy.”
She was quiet for a minute, before saying, “You're not really, legit, alone, though. There's a ton of people here who care about you and look out for you.” Off the top of her head, she could point out three. “I'm just saying. Alone's kind of a strong word.” And maybe she shouldn't have been using it, either, but the wound of her brother being gone was still too fresh.
A coward. Caitie huffed a laugh and nodded her head. “Which is even stupider of him because he's the one who always freaking tells me to be brave and whatever. He's all 'be brave, Cait,' and then he runs off like a chicken, without giving me a chance to tell him now.” She made a face.
“I keep bringing everyone down right now. Sorry.” She'd been thinking about shutting herself in until this whole situation cleared itself up in her mind, but she didn't know how long that'd be. And it'd only make her feel more alone.
