Attempts at cheering people up wasn’t exactly Nick’s forte, actually she was fairly certain she kind of failed at the whole ‘everything will be okay’ speeches. Which was why she wasn’t trying to make Caitie feel better with words, instead she was going to help distract her friend and skating had seemed like a fantastic way to do that.
It had been a couple of years since she had been skating though, which might play in her favor because she was certain it might be comical to watch her try and get her feet under her. Probably it would have helped if she had skates that weren’t hockey skates, but whatever, she would deal.
“How would you know they were happy pills? Would they have smiley faces on them?” She asked, playing along with the joke. “And I’m not sure there’s enough pills in the world to cheer up some of the grumps around here.” She added as she stood up and tried to keep her balance with the stupid hockey skates.
With her arms out at her sides to try and balance herself out, she glanced over at Caitie. “Not yet, but he keeps saying something about leaving on Monday and bringing Levi back as a Christmas gift for me,” Nick had her doubts that Benjamin would find Levi in that short of time, but she didn’t voice that – her brother was stubborn. “Which means I’ll be spending the holiday alone, probably.”
