WHO: Zach and Bea
WHAT: Attempting a conversation without words
WHERE: The infirmary
WHEN: December 11th, 2019; Evening
RATING: Medium, maybe.
CHALLENGE: STFU
Every bed had a body in it and nearly every staff person working had a sugar high. It was going to be an interesting night in the infirmary that much Zach could already tell. Two of the staff had already tried to shoo him out of the medical wing and back to his cell, both using the argument that he had just spent an evening in Ossining and he needed the rest. Zach didn’t need the rest, not really. He wouldn’t be able to sleep anyway, not until he knew everything was handled in the infirmary. At that moment his faith in everything being under control was non-existent. They had a broke wrist from a fall on the ice, three kids who were all suffering from what looked to be the flu, and numerous other aches, pains and sprains from the weather outside. The staff on duty weren’t used to chaos like this, none of them had ever experienced a hectic E.R., not like he had. So at this current moment he was the most experienced, which meant he wouldn’t be seeing his cell or his bed for a long while. He had just finished rounds and was looking forward to a couple moments of peace when he caught sight of someone poking around in the medical supply area. Rubbing a hand over his face, Zach fought back the urge to go around demanding exactly who let someone that was clearly not a medic go digging around in their stuff. It happened more often than he would like to admit, the residents of Sing Sing taking privileges and waltzing into the supply room for anything and everything. This made keeping track of supplies just a little frustrating, but they dealt with it. After taking a deep breath to claim down some, Zach strode over to the supply area and tapped on the woman’s shoulder to get her attention. He wouldn’t jump directly to demanding why she was in there, but it was definitely something he was going to figure out sooner or later. |
