She could always even say it was for medical supplies, if asked. Craniotomes... Scalpels... Etc.
This was not a lie at all. It was probably as close as she ever got to lying about anything, in fact -- just being very simple about things, which was usually the better course anyway.
"Nice to meet you, too." She backed away as he picked up his duffel, still smiling somewhat tiredly now, and shrugged. "Now?... Lets go now, before it has the chance to snow more."

Darkness was a serious liability when it came to a person's health in the apocalypse. Then again, being a person at all right now was also a fairly serious liability, considering.
Eloise started the walk toward the proper entrance without saying much more, though she looked back and up over her shoulder at Brennan to be sure he followed. Something occurred to her in that glance and she stopped, slowing to walk with him. "... Thank you."
Then they were on the street. It was fairly empty in front of the library -- the guards kept it that way. They didn't know Ellie well enough to recognise her yet, but called out a couple questions she felt obligated to answer.
"Do you know the city at all?" She asked Brennan afterward, pausing to consider their route.
