Despite the situation April found herself smiling slightly at George’s words, maybe because it sounded like something Lucas might say to her. Sometimes she got too caught up in observing and forgot that danger they were really in, that had apparently been one of those moments. “Moving now,” she answered as she followed George up the staircase. April kept her focus on the zombies as she did so, noting that their presence was definitely a point of interest and a couple of the shufflers were moving towards the base of the steps.
I don’t want to die today.
It was a stupid thought, but she really didn’t want this to be her last day or her final moment. Which kind of made her more determined to figure out some kind of escape plan. They were on the second level now, though all that gave them was a series of catwalks that hung above the open warehouse. As her eyes scanned their options, she caught sight of a window at the other end of the catwalk.
“There’s a window over there,” April muttered as she waved a hand in that direction. Sure it was a second story window, but it was either jump from a two story building or be eaten alive. She was keener on taking a chance with the whole jumping idea, but maybe she was just a little insane. “What do you think?”
