George didn't need April to tell her that this whole situation had her on edge. She knew the feeling, and she was fairly certain it was obvious in similar ways that George was not excited by the position they found themselves. Once she had April's agreement that up was a good idea, she didn't waste any time moving toward the rickety stairs and was just starting up them when the runners finally figured out how to get in.
"I see that now move it April," she muttered running up the stairs to the second level and along the upper walkway not needing to be told twice. There was no way they could survive such a large number of infected unless they could get away from the runners. Fighting them off would slow the pair down long enough for the shufflers to catch up and eventually overwhelm them.

They needed an exit strategy. There had to be a way out of the building that didn't being them into a direct path with the infected below or behind. There needed to be some way out. She just had to find it before one of those runners grabbed her boyfriend's sister and she had to explain that this was all her fault.
