“Would he say he enjoyed it?” Nick asked with a hint of a smirk. Even if this medic – Zach – hadn’t enjoyed having Jax around, if pressed she would admit she was beginning to consider him a friend and his company wasn’t all that bad. A prom at Sing Sing probably wouldn’t be anywhere near like a Prom would have been before the outbreak, but it was amusing to entertain the idea. “I’m sure if looters looked hard enough they would be able to find a formal wear shop, or at least a place with suits and dresses.” Maybe she was being optimistic about that. But out of all the clothing items around, she had a feeling that suits and dresses would actually be easier to find than most things. “Also ‘that chick’ who’s always suggesting movie nights is named Rae, and yeah, maybe she would want to help.” If they actually decided to go through with this crazy idea she would probably ask Rae to help out – party planning was kind of her thing.
Nick just quirked and eyebrow and kept her mouth shut. Jax probably was more normal than some people, so she couldn’t really argue with that comment. “Quirky is just another way to say weird,” she pointed out with a grin. Though her grin faltered after her stupid admission. Seriously, could the concrete floor just swallow her up? She had already wished that would happen, but when Jax didn’t have some kind of witty comment in response to her stupid slip up, well it just made her feel kind of pathetic and that much more embarrassed.
She could feel the heat in her cheeks, which probably meant she was as red as a tomato. When Jax found his voice again she just barely resisted the urge to drop her head into her hands and hide her face. “Well, I kind of was done with it,” she murmured. “And no I wasn’t living amongst blind people, I just had three older brothers who are all kinds of protective and scary,” Which was mostly the truth, if there had ever been anyone interested in her they usually weren’t interested after they met her brothers. “Although I don’t know what my excuse is now….” Shit she hadn’t meant to say that aloud. Stupid booze! This was the last time she was drinking.
