“I don’t,” Nick pointed out with a ‘are you serious?’ kind of expression on her face. “Really? The cold is the only thing stopping you from indecent exposure?” Although it wasn’t like there was anyone around to arrest people anymore, but really the compound had enough creepy people – like the old rocker – they didn’t need a teenage streaker or anything. Although the thought did make her giggle just a little bit, mostly because she was remembering her crazy neighbor from back home, the one who used to sit on his porch in just his boxers, a bottle of moonshine in one hand and his shotgun in the other.
Nick just shook her head. What was with teenage boys and the need to be daredevils? It had to be some kind of contest, maybe an attempt to prove who was the bravest….or stupidest. “Because you like the attention, right?” She had picked up on that fact fairly quickly that Jax liked attention. Which was a foreign thought to her, mostly because she was the type of person who didn’t need praise or attention, not in the same way Jax seemed to need it anyway. “Hate to break it to you, but compared to the guys I used to sit around drinking with, you probably are a lightweight.” Her brothers had known their way around a bottle, and the memory of that only made her miss them more. Benjamin was around the compound, but she rarely saw him lately. “Did you just stick your tongue out at me?” Nick asked in disbelief, wondering when exactly they had time traveled back to the third grade. Clearly the liquor was having a goofy effect on her companion already.
“Way to suggest things you can’t or shouldn’t do,” she quipped as she held the bottle out to him again; her head tipping back to rest against the wall of the guard tower. “So we neither one of us know any good drinking games, how exactly are we going to make this more interesting?” It took her brain a moment to catch up to what she had just said, and what kind of remark it might get from Jax – if he went the horny teenage boy route in his reply. Obviously the whiskey was impairing her thinking a little bit already.
