You learned a lot of things growing up the way Nick had. Case in point, she knew how to make moonshine, had had that ability since before middle school, actually. Couple her daddy’s family history with the fact she had three older brothers and it would have been surprising if she hadn’t known how to make moonshine or shoot a rifle. She was a girl born and raised in Harlan, in an area of town known for less than stellar people, so it was to be expected. Nick was definitely grateful for the way she had been raised; so far it had served her well while surviving the end of the world.
“You haven’t even had anything to drink yet tonight and you’re already having memory issues,” she remarked with a smirk. “I’ve got a feeling that I’m going to have to keep an eye on you.” In all honesty Nick had already bene planning on keeping an eye on Jax, mostly because he had struck her as the type that hadn’t done much drinking before.
She couldn’t help the way she quirked an eyebrow and gave him a look. “Which translates to ‘not at all’, right?” she asked, knowing that she could be wrong and maybe Jax had drank before. “You’ve got a lot of catching up to do if you’re trying to catch up with me.” Nick shot back, her tone teasing. Watching him closely, she wanted to warn him that maybe he should take things slow to start off with, but it was too late he was already coughing and setting the bottle aside. “Tastes even better when you don’t follow it up with coughing.” She remarked with a smirk as she swiped the bottle and took another drink, mirror Jax’s earlier gusto in drinking – minus the coughing.
