It was definitely odd how there was someone who was immune and someone who wasn't. Did that mean that there might be someone out there who was immune to cancer, but would never know? Was someone out there immune to AIDS but they'd never really come in contact it so the world would never know? It was a kind of horrifying thought. And the fact that this disease that had killed so many people was the worst thing that had ever happened to the population. Worse than the black plague, surely. This whole thing had definitely changed everything. Lucretia used to be sweet and warm and a mother and a wife, and now all of that had been ripped away from her. At least she still had her sense of humor. She'd be totally fucked if she didn't have that.
"That's good. I'm not sure I've ever run into anyone who's not taken this seriously," she said and then with an afterthought added. "Well I've never seen anyone who isn't completely dead now or a zombie because they didn't take this seriously." Now that she thought about it, there had been some people who hadn't taken this whole thing as seriously as they should have. Maybe that was the difference between the dead and the ones who were still alive. That and a whole lot of luck. She absolutely believed in that now. But not in a predetermined sort of way. Very random. "I doubt anyone wants to see anyone run themselves into the ground," she said with a small nod of their head. "I know what it's like to just want to put anyone.. or at least one specific person ahead of themselves at all costs."
If Lucretia ever broke down, she was lucky enough to know that Bennett would be there to pick her back up. That was one thing that she absolutely would never have to worry about. Clearly she didn't mind Brennan actually talking, and hopefully she hadn't delved too much into his background. It was one thing to talk to someone about general thing, but she knew better than to go asking anyone about their life before all of this. It was filled with nothing but pain, wasn't it?
Now though that she had heard whatever it was, she was on full alert. Her eyes were scanning the area, her ears were open and her gun was out. It was clearly the infected though, she hoped anyone not infected would know enough to say something if they heard the two of them. It wasn't like they'd been all that quiet. It was getting louder though, and the stench was enough to confirm everything.
She didn't say anything else, and moved forward with him at his side and never in front. Checking behind and then to the side, she saw those parts were all in the clear. Just two stragglers, trying to climb up to the rocks. With a sigh, she aimed and fired, sending the crawling one splashing back down into the water, dead twice over. "Lovely."
