“No, no, no,” Jace declared with a shake of his head. “Don’t go getting all philosophical on me. “Cause then I’m gonna sit thinking about it, and it’s just gonna depress me, man.” Maybe it was ignorant, but he didn’t spend a lot of time thinking about the point of the world, or the outbreak, or why shit happened. Wondering about why people hooked up for longer than a night was one thing, but getting all deep about life was a completely different beast.
Zombies outside the walls was pretty much the norm lately, so that definitely wasn’t anything new. “Not really,” he said. “Unless there’s some new zombie type shuffling around out there. That could be exciting.” And bad, very bad. Even with his immunity Jace took to keeping away from the undead; it wasn’t that he was afraid, it was more he didn’t like his chances of being eaten. Or bit again, ‘cause that hadn’t felt awesome the first time around.
“All I really ever see are these four walls, so I like knowing what’s going on outside of ‘em.” There were a few other security guys that came through here, and he asked most all of them the same questions. They didn’t deviate much from their answers.
