Crappy at being bored was an understatement, but Ev didn't bother to mention it. Most of the time he'd found the things Caitie got up to amusing, unless of course it was something that would hurt someone else. He was aware that other people might not feel that way, of course. Rolling his eyes a little when she said the chicken liked him, he tentatively scratched at the fuzzy creature. It was so small and dainty he was worried he might hurt it; pets should be more durable, in his opinion.
Everett worked not to get defensive at Caitie's words. He'd known she wouldn't like this, so it didn't come as any big surprise. "I just keep thinking, if she could come here on her own, why hasn't she?" he said. "If it was you out there somewhere, would you want me to not look for you?" He just couldn't help but feel guilty that he and Caitie were here and safe and they didn't know where Christina might be.
