“I know, it's just been... it's been crazy lately,” she admitted. A partial truth. Was now the time to tell her brother that she had a really big crush on her best friend and might've ruined their friendship forever? Probably not. “It's also still really weird, having you here.” That was a little tougher to admit, but it was true. “I'd, like... I'd gotten used to living here on my own, y'know? So all of a sudden, having you here? Totally weird, but in a good way.” It was still taking some adjustment, that was all. “I'm sorry,” she apologized, ducking her head.
Caitie and Maddie had spent most of the day after Caitie's confession decorating the room. Pink and purple to speak of their individual tastes, and Caitie's mixing equipment was displayed prominently on her side of the room; you could see the blacklight closet that she'd spoken to Maddie about on the opposite wall, too. It was a simple room, but more spacious and safer for Chick and Duck than a cell.
She laughed a little when her brother called attention to the fowl. “Oh,” she chuckled. “Uh... Chick happened on Halloween. We were...” she bit her lip, “we were egging,” she admitted. “And this little dude pretty much hatched in my hand. We didn't wanna bring him back to the coop, so we kept him. And Maddie's brother found Duck on the hunting trip for Halloween. We were sorta joking that we were almost like Chandler and Joey, but we were missing a duck, so now it feels... sorta complete, y'know?”
