Surprisingly George had gotten a decent response from parents wanting to put their children in dance lessons after announcing she would be teaching if anyone was interested. Apparently, normal activities for children were a lot fewer and farther between than she realized. That was okay, she was feeling useful for once by doing this and it felt infinitely better than how she used to spend the days. Only problem now was finding a dance supply store so her pupils wouldn’t have to dance barefoot. Just because George preferred to dance that way didn’t mean her students would. As agreed, she and Leah were out looking primarily for a tutu for Marigold. If they happened to stumble upon a cache of slippers, leotards, tights, and tap shoes George was going to do a jig with her dog. Her dog that was currently nosing through a heap of god only knew what a few feet away as they walked by the reeking carcass of a dead dog. Telemachus didn’t let it distract him for too long before he bound back to George’s side, his head held high and dark eyes alert. He was nearly a year old; it felt like now was as good a time as any to test how useful he’d be outside the compound. It was chilly, but not as cold as she would expect for a day at the end of November. But they walked along the empty streets keeping their eyes open for any store that may have what they were looking for. The only problem was the silence was sort of awkward on George’s end. She couldn’t quite tell if Leah felt the same way. Lexi said Leah was guarded around her, and that made her feel a bit like she had to walk on eggshells to make Leah feel more comfortable. Downside to that was George just took that to the extreme and was silent instead of trying to talk too much. “Is Marigold excited?” She asked finally breaking the silence as they turned a corner to keep looking. |
