"Because they are awesome, duh," Jax said to her question. "They mean you've been somewhere and done something, even if it's something stupid. Like, I knew this guy back home who fell right through a sliding glass door, right? Super dumb." He rolled his eyes. "But he had some badass scars from it. So even if I got to be a zombie chew toy, I came out of it alive and not all 'rarrr', you know?" He might not convince her of the coolness of scars, but he could damned well try. Not that rambling on about things forever was any effort for Jax.
"No, I'm not a movie snob," he protested. He leaned forward and grabbed a handful of the DVDs he'd pulled out and spread them out on the couch cushion next to him. "See, I got all kinds of stuff here. Action, drama, horror, some kind of romance thing." The colorful cases almost looked like an artifact from the past, in a way, and it was weird to think that there would never be any more. Or if the world ever recovered, it would probably be after they were dead. Creeeee-py, and not cool at all to think about.
Jax gave Nick a little half-smile, glad to see that she wasn't one of the prissy girls who tried to act like the word itself didn't exist. "Yeah, guess that is what I mean. It's that whole testosterone thing. I read somewhere that guys think about sex every few seconds. Do you have any idea how exhausting that is?" He collapsed down on his side of the couch for dramatic effect, then rolled to his back and pulled his knees up, his head on the arm of the couch where he'd been standing earlier. His feet knocked a couple of the DVD cases to the floor. Oops.
"So you wanna watch something?" he asked. "Since I set up some movie lighting and all." What else did they have to do right now? Jax was all about finding some company when he could.
