Obviously, Jax hadn't been sprung from the infirmary for long enough to establish any favorite places yet, but he was likely to hang out anywhere. Especially if it was a place where there was the potential to run into other people. He freaking loved people, even when he didn't actually get along with certain ones. Maybe it was more that he hated being alone, because when he was alone he was more inclined to brood over the losses he'd suffered. Not like everyone else hadn't lost family and friends too, but he didn't even know if his dad, uncle and brother were still alive.
It wore on the mind, and when that happened, Jax always sought distraction. Which was what he was doing now, fiddling with a light fixture because it was there and thinking about watching movies.
He hadn't heard the girl come into the room, probably because he'd been singing too loudly, and he was a little bit startled when she suddenly appeared and grabbed the plastic cover he'd dropped. Jax now had an audience, and he became even more animated, as if someone had flipped a light switch. "Right?" he said to her critique of his singing. "Like, I know I sing like a panther that just got its tail put through a meat grinder, but sometimes you just gotta do something because you feel it." Balancing carefully while still clutching the light cover in one hand, he removed his other hand from the ceiling and covered his heart with it. "'Cause I really like to sing. But I didn't think of doing it in the shower room. Bet the echoes would be great in there."
Fortunately, Jax managed not to fall, although it was a near thing; he put his free hand back up to brace against the ceiling as he considered her question about why he was dismantling the light box. "I was thinking about movie lighting," he said. "It's always cooler to watch a movie with the lights dim, but I didn't wanna cut them all the way off." He twitched his toes on the fabric-covered arm of the couch and shook blond strands of hair out of his eyes. "I'm Jax," he announced, since of course he had no clue who this girl was.
