Chappaqua wasn’t far from Ossining, not in mileage at least. A little over eight miles, though you could double that when you added in the roadblocks. It was a nice change of pace to go further out than Ossining, and Bea, no matter how much responsibility she had in Sing Sing she liked being able to stretch her legs. Metaphorically speaking. And she knew there was at least one children’s boutique in the city that she and Charlie could raid to try and find some more baby things. Though, she thought they were stocked up well enough, there was that niggling in the back of her mind that EJ wouldn’t be the only baby around the compound soon. Not with Leah’s pregnancy; though that still wasn’t public knowledge. Always the Children looked like it had been swanky at one point, but now it was just another storefront in a ghost town. She knew there was a Target in Mount Kisco that they could try too, for the more basic items like bottles and formula. The things that it looked like they might not find here. Making a motion at Charlie, Bea stopped just to the side of the door and peaked in, not seeing an movement initially, but not taking anything for granted. They’d run into a few zombies on their way from the prison, and with the numbers being higher than usual she just couldn’t risk being lazy about these things. “Ready?” she asked, throwing a look over her shoulder. “You go left, I’ll go right.” Split up far enough that they could sweep the building easily without worrying. Meet somewhere in the middle of the store if things went right. “Anything you’re looking for?” This was Charlie’s plan, Bea was just along for the ride. |
