Evan nudged her lightly when she teased him about over-sciencing things. “Hey, I can't help it, okay? The whole overthinking things goes beyond just compound things, you know?” he was still smiling, so that she'd know that he wasn't really angry. “See? Hanging on to bits and pieces of childishness has unforeseen benefits.” He let his grin grow a little and pulled her to him for a brief kiss. Whether it was a joke or not, he was glad she didn't disapprove of his occasional childishness. It was a part of who he was, and most of the time, he was too mature, so it was nice to let go of that once in awhile.
Twins. Evan didn't say much, but he wouldn't object to having twins either. “Imagine if it ends up being argumentative and smarmy? We'll never win anything for the rest of our lives!” He couldn't help but chuckle a little bit at that thought. They probably wouldn't anyway, if the way they treated Marigold was any indication. “So, basically, if we're right about this, we're going to have to be fending girls, or boys, off with a stick when the time comes...” he half-smiled.
Shooting lessons? Evan bit his lip and pondered that for a moment. “Are you sure?” he asked quietly. “I'm not saying no, because if it would make you feel safer, then I'm okay with it. But... you don't have the best eyesight, cher. I'm sure you'd be good at it, despite that, but that makes it a little more dangerous, hm?” And with their child in utero, she would have to be extra careful, but he knew that she knew that.
When it came to “good answer” moments, Evan was pretty decent at them. And he smirked when she told him that he'd done it again, then sighed like it actually bothered him and put on a dramatic performance of rolling his eyes when she mentioned that it was moot. “Alas, we have to steal our moments when we can get them.” Which, admittedly, may have been part of why this child existed. A small part of him wondered if she held resentment toward him, for losing control and getting them into this position, but he didn't dare ask. It was a situation where he had a hunch that he knew the truth, but he didn't want it confirmed.
Evan smiled when Marigold asked him what they were going to chat about and he placed her up on his lap.
“Do you remember what you and mommy talked about last week? When you asked her where EJ came from? How Rae-Rae got to be a mommy?” he asked, then watched when she nodded. “Well... it turns out that you're going to have a little brother or sister, Mari. Mommy and Papa are going to have little baby, just like Rae-Rae did with little EJ.”
