Noah loved New York, and he could understand how anyone who'd never lived anywhere else might not be able to comprehend what it was like. New York to him had been like the pulsing heartbeat of the states, even more so than Los Angeles. Both enormous, busy cities, but there was something undeniably more sophisticated about the former. It was a lifestyle all its own, and he was glad he'd gotten to experience it before everything had taken its downward spiral. "College," he explained. "That's a fine time to declare independence, try something new."
But now wasn't the time for sharing college stories, so he didn't. Now was the time for getting down to what the evening had really been about. He would have been fine with drawing it out a little longer, but who was he to deny a lady what she was demanding? And it had been a demand. He liked that, not being a fan of women who liked to pretend they didn't really want it as much as the guys did. Well... he supposed some women were like that, but it was clear that Vienna wasn't.
Noah was fully aware of her eyes on him, and wasn't this what all the physical conditioning he'd done for years was for? He loved the sure knowledge that whomever he was with liked what they were looking at, and if that made him vain and arrogant, so be it. He didn't give a shit.
He smirked when she called him a gentleman; his main reason for approaching her as he had was because it was less awkward than trying to scoop her out of the chair. But then she rose, and once she was clear of the chair and small desk where their dinner had been laid out, he made his move. Noah reached for her and lifted her up, then took a couple of steps to the nearest wall and pressed her to it-- carefully, since he had no desire to bruise her or bang her head against it, because that kind of thing was not smooth-- and then used his hands to wrap her legs around him. Then there they were, in super close contact, and he could tell that his heart was already beating faster.
