WHO: Everett and Zach WHERE: the gym WHEN: November 7, 2019; afternoon WHAT: building muscles, passing the time of day RATING: Low
Everett had been meaning to check out the gym area, particularly since it was getting colder outside. He'd seen people running around the grounds here, and he imagined there were some die-hards who would do so even when the weather got bitterly cold. He was a runner himself, but he could also see the wisdom of varying the type of workout he did. Hence, gym time.
He'd gotten plenty of exercise helping with the clean-up and zombie watch after that bomb had been set off, and he'd been glad to have something to do to keep him from brooding over this much potential danger and his baby sister being in the same vicinity. He'd found out later that Caitie'd slept through the whole thing as she tried to recover from a cold, but he worried anyway. He couldn't help it. Surely fate couldn't be bleak enough to rip her away from him now that he'd finally found her again, right? Yeah, no, he wasn't going to count on that.
As much as Ev wanted to be an optimist, he couldn't anymore. He knew he'd still worry over Caitie and do everything he could to keep her safe. Sometimes, distracting himself from his own brain was the best option, and finding weights, machines and treadmills proved to be helpful. He hadn't lifted much since high school, but he got into position on the padded bench, starting with a fairly light load since he didn't have anyone to spot him.
