Who in their right mind blows a hole in a concrete wall with zombies swarming outside? That was the first thought Vienna had had after the news struck. Her second thought was 'why the hell did I come here?' She had already survived one safe house falling to infected, would fate let her survive another? The jaded part of her said 'no', but the logical part of her knew she was overreacting. The guys on security and a handful of other people were quickly cleaning up the rubble and making plans to mend the wall. Things were under control and it was day two and nobody was fleeing yet, so things were probably going to be okay. Her muscles ached from the hours spent on her feet, and she was fairly certain she could pass as a zombie herself from the lack of sleep. She had taken a break though and gone to check in with Leah and see how Ledger was doing, dragging Bea with her because her sister had needed a break just as much as she had. But outside of that one break, Vienna had stayed at the wall to keep people in line, or boss them around, whatever you wanted to call it. Yet, regardless of the way her body ached or the way she knew she should be asleep right now. Vienna kept finding reasons to stick around and help. Maybe it was motherly protectiveness for Ledger, born out of a fear of Sing Sing falling the same way Carnegie Hall had. Whatever the reason truly was, it found her out at the wall when she should be sleeping. Even though she wasn't going to sleep anytime soon, that didn't mean she was stupid enough to not take a break. Nowhere on the ground felt entirely safe, so Vienna had made her way up to one of the roofs where a couple of guys were camped out with riffles, picking off the zombies when they got too close to entering the compound. Her goal in being up here was not to distract any of the guys, but she was curious about how things looked from up here, which was what drove her to inch closer to the edge of the roof to get a bird's eye view of things. |
