“It definitely had a foot feeling to it,” Piers nodded his agreement and dashed his tongue out to wet his lips. “For the longest time, booze wasn't even legal in Kuwait,” he muttered. Memories were hard to stop once they started. “But they always made exceptions on-base. Or maybe the rules were different. I never questioned.” She pointed out that there were still good times and he nodded. “Oh, definitely. I don't think people would've survived as long as they have without a few good times now and then. You just have to make your own now.”
Snorting a laugh in response to her points system. “So, if someone's name was Jaswinder,” which was actually the name of a woman he'd met at one of the Arabic embassies, “I'd get nine points?” He paused, pondering the flaw in her points system. “So, it starts with letters in your name and moves on to impressive feats. The thought of carrying actual money was absurd, and it hadn't even really crossed his mind until now. “I know, right?” he asked, shaking his head and glancing at the coin before he tossed it to her. “It was a lucky coin I had back in the day, but I guess I never had the heart to get rid of it.” Cheesy, maybe, but it was what it was. Her joke made him laugh, and he nodded. “And I'd have been arrested for providing booze to the underage.”
“Tails,” he called out. “Tails is whatever your choice is. Heads is the other.”
Practical. She'd said she was practical. Piers pondered this when he thought of the answer to her question and glanced at the ceiling, thinking it over. “I'm going to guess... something we need. You're not a looter, since I'm on that team, and I know all the cooks, so you're not one of them. Same with security. Cleaning. That's my guess. A part of the cleaning crew,” he said matter-of-factly.
Some freebies were, in fact, fun. “Oh, absolutely. Sometimes, when you're just too exhausted to play games, a freebie or two is fun, but tonight, I was looking for more of a challenge.” He paused. “Of course, I'll still go,” he added afterward.
