Ever since the first time he'd been bitten, Everett had been so thankful to be immune. If he wasn't, he'd surely be dead by now, and his sisters would truly be on their own forever. It meant that he was able to move around freely, didn't have to worry so much about his own safety. Not that getting bitten was any fun, for damn sure, but he could get through it. He just hoped his sisters had never had to experience it.
Finding out that Caitie was alive-- that Caitie was here-- had a strange effect on him. If anything, he looked even more serious and possibly even worried. It was all a front, a necessary defense mechanism to prevent himself from becoming emotional, which wasn't something he cared to do in front of a near-stranger. It had been more than he'd expected for her to say she recognized either of the girls in the photos, and that she offered to help him find Caitie was an extra bonus.
"I'd appreciate it," Ev said, tucking the photos away in his pocket again, suddenly feeling a tightness in his chest. Could it be true that he was about to be reunited with at least one of his sisters? It didn't sound like Christina was here as well, but this was more progress than he'd made thus far. All he could do was be thankful.
