Personal space wasn’t a particularly huge deal to Nick. She wasn’t one of those people with a ‘space bubble’ so to speak. But lately with the suspicious newcomers and the promise she had made to Rae that morning, Nick was more aware of things like how close another person was to her. This guy didn’t seem dangerous though, broody, but not dangerous. In some ways he reminded her of Jacob, how her older brother had always seemed to have the weight of the world on his shoulders – in his case it had been the weight of ‘protecting’ her and Levi most likely.
“Well hopefully you haven’t gotten yourself lost yet,” she remarked. Although the guy didn’t look to be lost, most times people had a way about them when they didn’t know where they were. “Though everything is pretty easy to find from this point, so if you are lost it shouldn’t take you too long to become un-lost.” Going to the courtyard whenever she had gotten turned around in this place had been her saving grace in the early days of her time here.
Nick couldn’t say Everett was a name she heard often. But it fit this guy somehow. “Nice to meet you too,” She smiled warmly as she shook his hand before releasing it. Nick hadn’t ever been one to spend a lot of time on pleasantries, so she was relieved when he got straight to the point about why he was at Sing Sing. “Oh,” she formed a little ‘O’ with her mouth. If she were braver maybe she would have searched for Jacob or gone back for Levi by now. But she wasn’t, and with Gavin around now she had a feeling he wouldn’t let her even if she had wanted to. “I’m sorry, I know how much it sucks to be separated,” she could sympathize with him and she really was sorry. “Not at all, I’d be more than willing to look at ‘em. I don’t know everyone around this place though, so even if I don’t know them that might not mean they aren’t here.” Nick felt like she should be up front about that. She hadn’t been at Sing Sing long herself, so she was still learning some faces and names of people.
