Spending most of the morning and into the afternoon with Rae had been kind of exactly what Nick had needed. She didn’t see much of the other woman since Rae had been put on limited work and Nick had begun to help Leah out in the kitchen instead. Which, Leah wasn’t bad, but she wasn’t Rae. There was just something about Rae that made Nick feel cared about or safe. Maybe it was the fact that the other woman seemed genuinely worried about her.
Telling her about the job she had been given by Mike might not have been the best idea though. Nick knew Rae worried, and now she would worry even more. Something that wouldn’t be good for either Rae or EJ, but the damage was done now, right? All she could do was assure Rae that Mike was watching out for her, or at least she hoped he was.
Moving Elliot’s things for Rae hadn’t been too hard. They even managed to get everything done without the help of any of the guys. Now she had a couple hours before she was expected to be anywhere else for the day, so she was taking advantage of that by measuring out the courtyard for the ice rink she still intended to make.
More and more people were staying indoors now, which meant she was mostly by herself out in the courtyard. So when she caught movement out of the corner of her eye she glanced in that direction as she called out. “Hey,” standing up straight she shoved her hands into her pockets as the guy continued to approach her. “Braving the chilly weather, huh?” Nick didn’t recognize him at all, but they had had a couple new faces show up over the last couple of days, so she wasn’t surprised that she didn’t recognize this guy straight away.
