Dominic heard the crunch of dying grass underneath boots, indicating someone was approaching. Squinting his eyes open just enough to see the person, he was more than a little thankful it wasn’t Rivers or Stone. Being baby-sat by them while on patrol was bad enough; he didn’t need them watching him while he was off duty as well. No, this guy was the one with all that tattoos. What was his name, Nate? Nick – no that was the kid – Noah? Yeah, Noah was his name.
Part of him was surprised that Noah was sticking around here. Most people gave him a wide berth. Which was just peachy with him, he didn’t need to make friends with these people. He just needed to stay off their radars for the most part, which was getting harder and harder to do it seemed.
What was the point really? The Security people weren’t the idiots they had been lead to believe they were. That much he had figured out from spending patrols with Mike and Brandon. He kept getting this feeling in his gut that things weren’t going to go there way, but he had to keep reminding himself to trust Tallis’ plan. The woman was wicked smart, so he had faith in her – at least until he didn’t anymore.
Biding his time until he got a clearly picture of the situation seemed like his best bet still, and although he didn’t necessarily care to make friends around this place, Marlena kept telling him he should try. So maybe this Noah guy was the best person to try that with, he didn’t seem as paranoid as the rest of them.
“Careful, sit too close and they might start suspecting you of shit as well,” the remark had a joking tone to it. But in all honesty Dominic wouldn’t be surprised if simply conversing with him would put someone on the ‘suspect list’ so to speak.
