"Did you have any trouble getting here?" asked Evan. Given the state of things, he was sure that she'd know what he was asking. Did she encounter any danger? Had the trip been safe?
While Eloise was thinking about whether this had been wise or not, Evan was simply flattered. No one left on the planet went through trouble like this for him. He'd realized, however, while talking to her the other day, that Eloise wasn't like those left on the planet. She saw things a little bit differently.
She mentioned it being cold in here and Evan looked around to see if the heating source was on or not. "I think they leave the heat off overnight," he explained, "since everyone's covered up and relaxing, it's slightly less necessary, you know?" Evan barely noticed, since he'd just spent way more time than was necessary out and about. He reached into his duffel bag and pulled out his extra blanket. "Here. Wrap this around yourself. You'll warm up quickly."
Thinking carefully before he actually did this, he reached down to gather his sketch pad, before offering it out to Eloise, still open to the page where he'd drawn the balloons for her.
"I just finished this up for you, by the way…" he said somewhat shyly. She'd either appreciate it or he wouldn't. He sincerely hoped for the former.
