Silas nodded. If they’d still been living in government safehouses or in a smaller place that needed space cleared, it would’ve made perfect sense to get rid of unnecessary clutter. Having very few belongings himself, Silas didn’t know how one went about putting their things in storage and keeping other people from fucking with it, so it really was just a matter of whatever Rae wanted to do with Elliot’s things.
“That’s why I stopped,” he explained again. Granted, it would’ve been a minor concern compared to being blamed for the murders, but it still would’ve sucked if Rae had thought the dead bird had been from him. He’d been smart enough to realize that.
A jinx. Silas… really couldn’t help but chuckle at that, in spite of how serious Rae might have been. “Rae, look around you. Bad shit happens to everyone now. You’re not a jinx. You’re just… normal. A shitty life is the new normal.”
He dipped his chin to kiss her on top of the head. “Think you can get back to sleep now?”
