“You are yourself. Just… evolved.” As far as he saw it, none of Rae’s friends had abandoned her because of her current emotional state. If anything, they’d all been nothing but supportive and caring. More likely, though, it was Rae’s grief making her feel like she was alone.
“Losing a parent is different,” he said simply. Or maybe it wasn’t. He didn’t know. He shrugged his shoulders. “Do whatever you feel comfortable doing. It’s okay.”
He nodded his confirmation about the flowers. “Would’ve sent more, but then one of the notes I sent got mixed up with the fuckin’ killer, so I figured it was smart to stop sendin’ shit for a while.” He half-smiled at the unintentional sentimentality of keeping the flowers, although he never understood that sort of hobby. Keeping plants after they’d died. “Glad you liked ‘em.”
“Huh.” He wondered if that was a bad sign; Rae’s ability to tell when someone was lying. If he wasn’t careful, he’d probably get in trouble with that.
Silas arched an eyebrow when her supposed hypothetical question earned him a stuttering reply. “Why?” He asked again.
