Nightmare. Right. Remember what she’d told him about her nightmares, Silas gave a slow nod. Nightmares about the medic, Elliot. He lips parted, ready to let him say something along the lines of waking him up so he could’ve comforted her after the nightmare. Instead of her leaving the bed to come outside in the cold.
He didn’t say that, though, because really… he didn’t know how to comfort her after a nightmare like that. It felt like yet another reason why he shouldn’t even be with her in the first place. Even if he wasn’t really with her. Just the fuck buddy, basically. Silas chewed on his lip, then said of her apology, “Don’t worry about it.”
He smirked a little when she commented on the warmth of the jacket. “Bed’s warmer.” Not a subtle hint at all. “Least as long as somebody’s in it.”
Silas considered his options. He didn’t particularly want to get into a discussion about the topic of Rae’s nightmare, but he didn’t want to seem uncaring either. Or maybe the better thing to do was to find something to talk about to take her mind off things. The smartest choice was generally to let the other person lead the conversation, so that he stood a better chance of avoiding saying the wrong thing.
