At least she wasn’t trying to deny it this time. Although, that wasn’t saying much, considering Caitie had already admitted to being a thief on a prior occasion. “Which would imply that singing’s a useful skill. It’s not. This argument’s getting boring really fast.”
“Queen or not, I’ve done more good for this place than a kid like you has. All you seem to be good for is making messes that the rest of us have to fucking clean up. That shit gets old.” Leah couldn’t recall ever having this sort of attitude problem when she was Caitie’s age, but then, she’d always been the more responsible one. Or the less fun one, as people tended to call her.
Leah crossed her arms over her chest. This would likely be the first time over the next several months that she’d find herself wishing her threats could be more physical. That had always taken less time than standing around arguing in circles. “It belonged to his wife, you infuriating little bitch. Though I’m sure I’d just be wasting my time explaining how important sentimental things are to some people.”
Unfortunately, Caitie did have a point, small though it was. “I can do a lot more than you think. Most of the compound already knows you’re a thief, so why not do something decent for once and voluntarily give back what you stole?”
