Nick was more than relieved when Kori didn’t focus on the talk about people missing, actually the older woman didn’t even comment on it. She could have her fears and her worries about this, but she didn’t want to talk about it. Talking about it only made her that much more scared of the things outside the walls of this compound. It wasn’t like she was sticking her head in the sand and pretending like things were okay, no, she was simply choosing to focus on things like this party so that she might avoid the terrifying thoughts of ‘what if it happens to someone I care about?’ that liked to run through her head lately. Although she hoped it wouldn’t come up, Nick knew she wouldn’t be above begging the people she cared about to stay inside the walls of Sing Sing if it were to come up. Shaking her head slightly, she tried to clear her thoughts and focus on what Kori was saying. “Well then I’ll help you out as best I can,” she replied with a smile. “No problem. And I definitely will, and thanks.” Nick didn’t know what to say to that last part, she was still getting used to people doing things like that for her just because.
“Yeah she really is,” she didn’t add that that was on top of all the other things Rae seemed to be good at, even though she did think it. Nick nodded as Kori agreed that they would ask Rae, and she’d ask her family and she found her eyes going wide at that explanation as to who Mike was. “Fiance?” The surprise was apparent in Nick’s tone, but she couldn’t help sounding that way. A part of her really didn’t know what it would be like to be doing something like planning on getting married in this world, but to each their own, right? “Works for me, and I won’t argue you putting my name on this. Still think we’ll get a better response since it’ll be coming from you, though.” She could give herself credit, but she was also honest and she honestly knew that most adults would label her part of the ‘teen squad’ and might assume she had less than stellar motives behind this.
Nodding her head, Nick really did think that was the best approach. “Extra would definitely be good, after all who knows who might show up at the last minute.” Sing Sing seemed to be getting new residence at a pretty quick pace, or at least it felt that way to her.
“We can hope, right?” It would be insane to her if this did turn into a huge bash, but it would definitely be a good distraction if it did. “Well that’s my thoughts on it, but we could always end up with a couple Grinch’s in the mix,” because wasn’t there always someone who had a negative opinion on a holiday or a party? “Great, thanks for doing that part of this,” not that she couldn’t have done the post, but she still thought it would come off better with Kori doing it. “Insane people, that’s who doesn’t enjoy Halloween. I mean c’mon, junk food, costumes and an excuse to get a sugar high. How could you not like that?”
