It had been horrible. She'd been frozen in place watching the most awful thing she'd ever experienced in her life and being powerless to stop it. She didn't know what to do. She didn't know if she was any match for those monsters. Kori regretted even now that she hadn't done something. Even if she knew she couldn't go back and change it, she wished she could. She wished she could do anything to bring her parents back. Anything to make everything okay again. It was a wish that she was sure many people have. Things just going back to normal. Unfortunately this was the new normal now.
"I hope so," she said. She missed Mike. Even though he was there in a way it felt like he wasn't. Or maybe it was herself that had been vacant. Either way she was going to need to talk to him soon. Really talk to him. She didn't particularly know where they stood or what they meant to one another and shew as tired of skating on the space between wondering and being unsure. "We'll talk. I think I've been putting it off too long now."
The walk sounded pretty damn good to her. "It'll help the both of us clear our heads," she smiled. "Even if we don't talk." And that sounded like a damn fine plan to her. A little reflection certainly wouldn't hurt her.
