Kori sighed a little. "I was frozen," she said softly, biting her lower lip. "I didn't know what to say or what to do and it was all so quick," she said. "Then I couldn't do anything at all." Which was what made her feel the most guilty about the whole situation. She felt responsible, even if no one blamed her.
She pushed that thought away and focused more on what Leah said afterwards. "You've got time," she told her. "And I don't think we will. I'm still trying to figure everything out," she sighed. She really didn't know where she and Mike stood. She needed to find out, she knew she did. She needed to talk to him, to figure out how to tell him how much she still loved him, how much she missed him. "I don't even know where to start," she breathed out, pushing her hair back from her face. "I just feel so lost. Like I don't deserve to be happy."
It was the first time she'd really admitted that was how she felt about her relationship - if that was what it could be called - with Mike.
"Want to go for a walk?" she said. "Maybe clear your head? Or do you want to just be alone?" Whatever Leah wanted, Kori would be glad to give her.
