Maddie made a growling noise in her throat, as if she were truly annoyed with him for making something so boring sound so exciting. “Damn you, you know my weakness. If there’s ever a day that goes by without me doing something to get some kind of attention, you’ll know I’m either dead or sick.” She ended that sentence with a smirk.
With a fucked up shoulder was tacked on mentally, not really even because she knew that was what he was thinking about adding, but because he more than likely would’ve been with his bros rather than randomly seeking her out. Not that this was really the first time they’d ever encountered one another without planning to, but if his arm wasn’t fucked up, he’d have had a lot more things to do.
“Sucks when there’s nothing to do around here.” Or when you’re alone with nothing to do. “But at least you’re not bored enough to risk going blind.”
“Hey, I was bouncing around and having an awesome time until you showed up.” A feeble defense, since she’d been horribly bored until he showed up. Still, Maddie wasn’t about to admit that she was lonely.
Maddie walked alongside him, combing her fingers through her hair and putting it back into some kind of messy order. It gave her the perfect reason to avoid his gaze when he asked where her supposed friends were. She shrugged a shoulder. “Doing other stuff.” Without me. “George is probably with Luke. I try to avoid hanging out with the puppy-kicking Marchand. And Caitie’s hanging out with another chick I don’t like. So it’s just me and trampoline. Or it was, anyway.”
