She was still caught in the world before the apocalypse. Before all this, Allison was definitely more common than Silas was as a name. Or at least as far as she was concerned. He was the only Silas she had ever met.
She pressed her lips together again and let her head loll to the side a bit. "Yeah. It's just me. I think my mom might be out there somewhere, but I haven't heard from her in a few years. My dad said she got eaten by zombies. I don't buy it." Her face fell a bit, and she looked to her hands as they rested on her lap on top of the blanket. "My dad had a run in with one of those gigantic things. I haven't seen him since."
She knew her dad was dead. There was no way he could have survived a Smasher attack. Unless he was Superman or something.
Allison's gaze returned to Silas again, and the corners of her mouth turned up into a small smile. "Thank you," she said. "If you hadn't found me, I'd have bled out on some old person's couch." Her face twisted as she thought about it.
He wasn't making her uncomfortable, at least now that she knew he was the one that had found her. Gave him a purpose for being there, rather than just being a random stranger creepily looming over her as she slept. And he was cute. She wasn't going to complain about a cute guy being there. Especially since said cute guy had taken the time to bring her back to the safehouse. He could have left her for dead. She was grateful he didn't.
"It's fine," she said, holding a hand up as he started to stand. "I was just trying to figure out why you were here. And 'doctor' was the first thing that came to mind."
After a bit of a pause, she noticed his cane, and burst into slight giggles. "Nice cane. You got sisters?" That was usually something one would expect from siblings, so she just assumed.
