WHO: Wren and Jude WHERE: Infirmary, Hallway WHEN: September 1st, afternoon WHAT: Two Doctors meeting RATING: Low-ish, probably? STATUS: Incomplete
Even though she had discharged O'Brien two days ago, Wren was still anxious about him. She wasn't sure if anything she was doing to fix his vision was working but she didn't want to give up hope. Before the outbreak it would have been difficult to fix, almost near impossible, but Wren wasn't going to let any thoughts like that discourage her. She was determined to find a cure even if that seemed irrational.
Despite her loss in a patient, Wren was still very busy with the everyday chaos of Sing Sing. There was always something happening or someone getting hurt and she actually didn't mind. It wasn't great that people were getting hurt but Wren couldn't control that kind of chaos and it actually sort of calmed her. The stream of people seemed almost normal; a cough here or a cut that needed a bandage, it made her feel as if she were working a clinic shift. Normality was a state of mind and for Wren it was the line of people with little problems who stepped into the infirmary.
By the time lunch rolled around, the group that had formed during the morning had dispersed. There was no doubt in Wren's mind that when she got back there would be more people waiting, and even though she was committed to helping and loved her job, Wren still took her time. It had already occurred to her that her way of dealing with life was work and even though it didn't really bother her sometimes, it did.
So, as a way of fighting back Wren took her time walking to lunch. She tried to keep her focus on anything but work, maybe she'd help with the cleaning crew or even go into Ossining. After the day trip to Bedford, Wren had been eager to go out again. There was something about leaving the confines of Sing Sing that was very liberating and a little scary but fun. Wren wasn't much for adrenaline rushes, she got enough with her job, but spending so much time literally locked up in Sing Sing was enough to drive her just a little bit crazy.
Wren didn't notice the person in front of her until she'd bumped into them. "Oh, I'm so sorry," she said quickly, smiling apologetically and shaking the thoughts from her head. "Not quite myself today." she mumbled, more to herself.
