It wasn’t often that Bea took to liking someone the first time they met, but she didn’t mind Leah. So far the conversation had been pretty easy too, another rarity. “Bunch of beginners, huh? God, I’d hate to be on the med staff. Half these people will probably end up trying to weasel Advil out of them later.” She knew she’d probably ache a little herself, but it wouldn’t be enough to send her begging for drugs, so long as she kept from falling over or really bending wrong. Even then she’d just grit her teeth through it; minor muscle pain wouldn’t be worth wasting drugs on.
“I’ll have to check my bags for a pair. I don’t remember what the fuck I hauled with me from the city,” Bea replied. She hadn’t bothered to look through her bags since before she left New York. It hadn’t seemed like a high priority to know exactly what she was bringing with her, just that it was enough to get her by. “How long have you been doing yoga anyways?” Leah seemed to know her shit, and that made Bea think it had probably been years and years worth of experience, but then her guess could be wrong.
Even Bea, who was more prone to serious expressions or outright scowling couldn’t help flashing a smile of her own in response to Leah’s. “Thank fuck,” she stated with a soft laugh. “My pride can only handle so much.” Even if she didn’t particularly care what others thought of her, she’d never liked the feeling of being bad at something, and she was most assuredly awful at yoga right now. “Might’ve reconsidered coming back if there were cameras hidden in the corners.”
Holding the pose was more difficult than she thought, and even though Leah had given her the out of not going a whole minute Bea wanted to challenge herself. “Fuck,” she muttered after she’d counted off sixty seconds in her head, biting back a hiss when she stretched her foot back to the floor. “This is masochism.” However, it didn’t stop her from switching legs and balancing on the other, careful to plant her foot firmly the first time. “People say running is masochistic, but this beats that hands down.”
