Ellie paused for a moment. She hadn't really thought about what it would mean, surprisingly. These things were meant to be simplistic, for the purpose of everyone's sanity. Or were they? She'd never wanted David to be her boyfriend -- the word seemed silly, insignificant in light of what he was. A person. Little titles gave no real meaning, aside from assigning understanding to the people who lived outside of their bubble for two.
Still, she shrugged, finally resting her head on his shoulder. The question seemed to reverberate in the room, though David's voice was small, familiar.
"Whatever we want it to mean," she offered, running a finger along the pulse in his neck. "For me, it means..."
Another pause.
"... I'll stay with you. I'll be... I'll be with you. Yours. As long as you'd like me to be."
She smiled then. Saying such a thing aloud was happy in a way that defied all logic. Why should words be so pleasant? Perhaps because she'd been contemplating them so long. "And... I'll stay here. 'll go wherever you go."
